Supply Chain Manager

PPG is seeking a seasoned leader to direct the team responsible for strategic oversight in production planning and scheduling, inventory management, raw material procurement, and customer order management activity at one of our largest manufacturing plants here in the U.S.

In this role, you will drive activities critical to the plant’s performance. This requires the ability to lead change and lead people, while working with all of the other departments. With oversight of for over $50MM in inventory, you will be relied upon to drive continuous improvement to the supply chain processes, strategic planning, and procurement activities.  You will be responsible to control department expenses, increase productivity, elevate service to our customers, and further our competitive advantage in the industry.

Additional Responsibilities include
  • Developing a comprehensive supply chain strategy to support current and future requirements of the company including the management of production planning, forecasting processes, procurement, capacity planning, scheduling, warehousing, freight, and order fulfillment.
  • Developing, reviewing, and analyzing reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers/supervisors to drive results for the supply chain function at the plant.
  • Managing to balance sheet and customer order fulfillment goals.
  • Recognizing cost impact of excess and obsolete inventory and actively seeks return on investment and elimination of waste.
  • Preparing and presenting weekly and monthly performance metrics against objectives for the supply chain operations to the executive management and internal stakeholders to drive improvement in the supply chain performance.
  • Working closely with product development and engineering to ensure new products are ordered and launched according to a defined process.
  • Giving work directions, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Organize, engage, and lead a supply chain staff while developing, coaching and mentoring talent.
  • Responsible for furthering vendor relationships and improving supplier delivery performance to the plant; contract negotiations are handled at the global level.
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Management (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ supply chain management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a team and driving improved performance 
  • MBA or Supply Chain Management Master’s Degree a plus.
  • APICS certification essential: CPIM, CSCP
  • Proven understanding of complex reporting tools. Advanced MS Office including Excel.
  • Oracle/SAP proficiency a plus.
  • Relocation available to Cleveland for the most-qualified candidate.
